Summer Discovery

We are very excited about our 2007 Summer Discovery program - ‘ Discover Land’. If you have any unused small mosaic tiles that you no longer require we can put them to good use. Also we require new colourful crepe paper, wire coathangers and gladwrap or paper towel cylinders. We will be having a combined meeting on Monday 4 December at 7.30pm at the church to which you are invited. If you can assist in any way we would love to hear from you. Please see Ginny Brookes or leave a message at the Welcome Centre for more information or offers of assistance.

Postage Stamps

Please remember to collect your postage stamps and leave in the Welcome Centre. Every Monday two people from Hope Valley go to the Synod office where, with other volunteers, they sort the stamps ready for buyers. The money collected helps pay for the cost of postage and freight for books to schools and churches run by our partner churches overseas. So far this year $3,586 has been given to help cover these costs. Letters of thanks from these schools are on the World Mission noticeboard for you to read.

Sausage Sizzle - today

After each of our four services today there will be a sausage sizzle in the carpark. Proceeds will be going towards those travelling in our Thailand Mission Team, leaving in early December.

Church Council Report

At the October meeting Church Council decided to withdraw from negotiations with the developer of the land on Smart Road.
A number of Councillors attended the Global Leadership two-day Summit in October.
Council agreed to place a plaque in a prominent place in the buildings to read:
‘The community of Hope Valley Uniting church acknowledges with respect that the Kaurna people were the original custodians of the land on which we stand, where we worship God, engage in ministry and enjoy Christian fellowship.’
At the November meeting the Pastors reported on the area of ministry in which they give leadership. These reports will be available in preparation for the congregation meeting planned for 4 March 2007.
The Property Development Team have been asked to consider options for our future.
Joshua Bohmer has agreed to manage the church website.

Gift Day Progress

Our gift day result to date indicates we are exceeding our target and is an expression of the generosity of our people. Thanks to all.

Last Sunday we received $20,320 in cash and promises. You can still contribute using the envelopes provided. We can now arrange for the projects and release funds into our income budget.

Extended Care Department

All Pastoral Visitors are reminded that our final get-together this year will be held on Monday 27 November at 7.30pm
in the Western Room.

Entertainment and light refreshments provided, great fellowship guaranteed.

National Church Life Survey

Today Hope Valley Uniting Church will be taking part in the National Church Life Survey. This survey is conducted every 5 years. Services will be planned so that there will be time after each service for people to complete the survey form. This should take about 20 minutes.

In February 2007, Hope Valley will receive a unique ‘Church Profile’ based on the survey responses.
