World Mission Offering
Today
Today’s World Mission Offering will be for the work of Lyndall & Jon Paschke in Vanuatu. This couple with their 2 boys have worked in various areas of Vanuatu for a number of years. Jon was initially involved in writing and preparing appropriate material for Sunday schools in Vanuatu. He then worked in an Agricultural College for some time and when they return to Vanuatu in the next few weeks they will be assisting many families as they move from rural areas to the larger towns. Our World Mission offering today will support this new venture.
Bible League Show Outreach
The Bible League Adelaide Show Outreach will be at the Show again this year, for the 34th consecutive year. It will distribute to passers-by tracts on a theme of a ‘New Life in Christ’, along with New Testaments and single Gospels in modern translations, and copies of the ‘Jesus’ video in various languages. It needs to raise more than $10,000 for this ministry. Please support this work with your prayers, donations or by volunteering.

RT Kendall is coming to
Hope Valley Uniting Church and Clovercrest Baptist Church.
RT will be speaking at the 10.30am service on 3 September, and also at the Conference titled ‘Walking in the Anointing’ at the Clovercrest Baptist Church on 7, 8 and 9 September.
Following on from last year’s Conference on ‘The Anointing’, RT Kendall is returning to Clovercrest Baptist Church on 7-9 September. RT comments ‘Many of us are churning out ‘Christian’ activity that has no touch of God upon it. There is only one antidote to such a situation: it is breathtaking in its possibility, it is awesome in its power, it is liberating in its effect. Quite simply - The Anointing’.
Brochures are available from the
Welcome Centre foyer.
Speak with Maree if you wish to
attend the Conference.
Summer Discovery 2007
We value your prayers for this outreach program into our community. On Saturday 19 August from 9am to 12 noon we are having a sewing bee at the church to replenish our supply of costumes. If you are able and willing to help please come along or let the church office know if you would like to help but can’t come on that day.
Also we need a Craft Co-ordinator. If this is an area where you can serve we would love to hear from you. - Virginia Brookes
The Community Support Worker’s role is to work with African New Arrivals in the Tea Tree Gully/Modbury area and assist them in settling into their new environment The position is up to 14 hours per week for twelve months. For further enquiries contact Wendy Sinnott (08) 8264 4515 or 0412 646 086. Applications close on 4 August, 2006.
Building Security
Holden Hill Police advise that there has been a recent spate of serious criminal trespasses (break-ins) on places of worship throughout the metropolitan area. These offences have predominantly occurred overnight. Please ensure that the church premises are securely locked if you are the last person to leave the building. We have also been asked to report any suspicious vehicles and persons to the police on 131 444. This may include what would otherwise be considered as ‘normal’ activity and movement in the area, but is occurring at an odd time, such as in the early hours of the morning. Descriptions of the vehicle and person(s) would be useful for the police.
Operation Christmas Child
Each year Samaritan’s Purse sends shoe boxes filled with gifts overseas to be distributed to suffering children at Christmas. Last year nearly 20,000 shoe boxes were collected from SA. The majority of them were sent to children in Cambodia.
We are once again asking for people to help. This year boxes have been provided for you to fill, so please call at the Welcome Centre and pick up a box.
Shoe boxes filled with gifts can be brought to any of our services on 24 September.
For more information speak with Sue Crocker or collect a pamphlet ‘Operation Christmas Child’ from the foyer.
Please enclose $8 donation to help cover shipping costs.
Red Dove Café
Royal Adelaide Show
The Red Dove Café operates every day of the Adelaide Show, as well as the day before opening and the day after closing (September 1-9). All workers are volunteers, so if you are able to help please contact Pauline on 8556 2194. An entry ticket into the show is provided. Every year the money raised is distributed to various organisations within the church.Prayer Requests Welcomed
We have several groups who, at short notice, can respond to any urgent prayer request that you may have. Prayer Request Sheets are to be found on two wall slots just inside the main church entrance. If you pick up a form on entry to worship, complete it and place it in with the offering or complete it during worship and pass in to the Welcome Centre after worship. Remember that prayer troops are greatly encouraged by positive feedback from their ministry via the Church Office anytime. - Pastor Allan
